Jennifer Sowders, artistJennifer Sowders

Growing up on a rural ‘dead end’ road; Ohio-native artist Jennifer Sowders, grew up spending a lot of time studying nature and its indelible thread is noted within her body of work.

Jennifer is a 1994 BFA graduate from the Columbus College of Art and Design. She is a Trustee and Signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, Signature of the Kentucky Watercolor Society, Associate of The National Watercolor, American Watercolor, American Impressionist and National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Societies; and member of the Ohio Art League, as well as many regional/local organizations.

She gained entrance into The 2020 National Watercolor Society’s “50 Stars” Exhibition– being quite an honor as two artworks were chosen from each state-level watercolor society to represent their state.

She continues to be accepted into National and International shows; appearing in NWS, AWS and NOAPS online associate shows and is an Artists Magazine “AcrylicWorks 9: The Best of Acrylic” Honorable Mention winner; and finalist in “AcrylicWorks 10” Fall/2023.

She has 2 works in the Ohio Arts Council collection and is currently represented by the Toledo Museum of Art’s Collector Corner.

Although rural, Jennifer opens up her studio: “MONgallery” to the public on MONdays, encouraging visitors to enjoy the woodlands, fields, streams and farm animals along the way. Her work currently encompasses 2 separate series, including genre portrait/figurative scenes and landscape themes.

She lives in Fostoria, Ohio with husband, Gary and has 3 sons.
