Becky McOmber
In my retirement, I have found joy and purpose in the slow, intentional craft of leatherwork. Each item I create begins with a pattern I design myself and that is shaped by both utility and a love for timeless form. Almost everything I make is one of a kind, with the exception of my smaller, fun items.
Drawing on a foundation in fine arts, I approach leather as both material and a source of inspiration. I use high-quality materials that reflect my commitment to beauty and durability. Each piece is made by hand, using techniques that require me to be fully present in each cut, stitch, and edge. This process is meticulous, often meditative, and never rushed as I figure out how each item will be built from design to final stitch.
Although most of my work is functional, it is about more than function. It is about craftsmanship, patience, and the quiet beauty of things made slowly and to last.
