Jax Foster, a Portage native, has been dabbling in various mediums since grade school. After charcoal drawing, ceramics, wood burning, watercolor, and many more, they finally settled into the magic of oil painting.
Through their job at a local tattoo shop, they’ve formed relationships and ties in the local art community. Two years ago, they pursued a painting apprenticeship with their mentor. Every piece they make is an effort to grasp a new technique or explore new ideas. They also edit and make their own copies to order.
While they take inspiration from lots of plants, food, animals, and pop culture, their true love is portraiture. They take inspiration from 1600-1700s baroque style art, as well as more modern artists such as Rachel Petruccillo.
